Arthur
Noxon is a Eugene-based Acoustical Engineer with Master of Science
degrees in Mechanical Engineering/Acoustics and Physics. A professional
engineer since 1982, Mr. Noxon is state licensed to practice engineering
in the public domain with a specialty area of acoustics.
The
early years of his practice revolved around occupation and community
noise projects in lumber mills. He provided engineering services
as the first certified Rehabilitation Engineer in Oregon. In this
role, Mr. Noxon designed and modified equipment to help return injured
workers to the job. He remains a consultant to OSHA for employee
noise and vibration compliance.
During his years as an OSHA
consultant, Mr. Noxon encountered architectural acoustic work that
required low frequency noise control devices which were not available
from vendor sources. His solution was to design and build them.
Today these products are patented, manufactured and sold worldwide
by Acoustic Sciences Corporation, the company he founded in 1984.
Mr. Noxon remains president of ASC and employs 20 people in Eugene,
Oregon. Acoustic applications for the company range from hi-fi listening
rooms, recording studios and large performance halls to commercial,
industrial, and government noise control projects.
Mr. Noxon is currently handling
the acoustical engineer part of the PE exam for OSBEELS, Oregon
State Board for Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying.
